OUR LEGACY
Leadership Ascent Programs, previously known as The Women'sVision Leadership Institute, began in 1997 when a small group of senior corporate women met to discuss the legacy of their experiences. The women wanted to give back: to help others to break through the glass ceiling, to break glass walls—to make it easier for those women who came behind this founding group to have a more fulfilling corporate experience. The original team researched, discussed and developed the ideal education program for two years. The women closely examined earlier leadership development and training models like those offered by Leadership Texas, Leadership America, programs offered by local Chambers of Commerce, those found in books like Linkage Inc’s, Best Practices in Leadership Development Handbook. Ultimately what emerged was a unique product.
While some aspects of Leadership Ascent for Women were present in other programs studied, Leadership Ascent for Women offered a unique blend of experiential adult-learning centered workshops with individualized coaching to reinforce and extend the impact of the materials provided in monthly day-long workshops. The original team also made a commitment to be part of a 501(c)3 non-profit, so that corporations who were funding their women to attend this program, could also give money that would be ear-marked for women who were working in smaller companies where their firm could not provide the entire tuition for the program. Those women would still be able to attend on partial to full scholarships. The connection with the
newly developing Women’sVision Foundation (WVF) was made. Now Leadership Ascent is The Leadership's Investment preeminent leadership development program and the year long program is offered with both a Fall and a Spring class.
Today, Leadership Ascent is a year-long leadership training and development experience/program for mid-management to C-Suite corporate executive men and women that would prepare them to take the next step in their careers; for themselves and for their organizations. The program is constantly evolving, contuining to stay current and maintain the "raise the bar" culture we have invested in since the organization's inception. We are proud to have helped over 300 men and women take charge or their careers, their development and his or her personal ownership of their organizations' goals.
